Concessionary Fees

The CISI offers a range of concessionary fees for new members and members renewing their annual subscriptions. These are available to any non-Student member who, at the time of renewal, is either;

  • On maternity leave
  • Unemployed*
  • Retired*

The concessionary rate is 50% of the full annual subscription. *The CISI has a strict definition for both "unemployed" and "retired". Anyone who is receiving income may not claim a retired or unemployed concessionary fee. Please note concessions are not offered for members upgrading or reinstating their membership.

Membership Renewals – Please fill out the concessionary rates form to claim concessionary rates. If you have any questions regarding your concessionary discount for your renewal, please email yourmembership@cisi.org.

New members – Please email Concessionarydiscounts@cisi.org to claim concessionary rates before applying for new membership and provide proof of low income with one of the following documents:

  • P60 covering the previous tax year
  • Recent payslip from your employer dated within the last three months
  • Confirmation of registration from a school/college/university as a full-time student
  • Letter of confirmation of receipt of Universal Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions

International Applicants:
Individuals in low GDP countries are also eligible for a discount. Please email concessionarydiscounts@cisi.org for further information.

Life Time Membership Option - Retired Members Only

The CISI has a lifetime membership option for retired members. Any retired (non-Student) member will now have the option of making a one-off payment to obtain life-long membership of the CISI. The fee has been set at 10 times the concessionary rate (or five times the full rate) for that category. For more information please contact us.

Tax Relief

As the CISI is a professional body and membership is relevant to the job you do, membership and joining fees qualify for tax relief.

Therefore you can include this on your annual tax return as an allowable expense and this will reduce your final tax bill by a percentage of the fee. If your employer pays your fees then they would be entitled to show this as an allowable expense, but then you cannot also claim the cost on your own tax return.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment is listed on HMRC Approved professional organisations and learned societies list as Securities and Investment Chartered Institute for (formerly the Institute for Securities and Investment).
